Warwickshire has a great tradition of participation and success in junior squash. This is driven by the efforts of coaches, volunteers and players who work hard to introduce squash to total beginners and to support and develop the keen juniors. Most of this work happens at club level and the Junior Section of Warwickshire Squash complements this with a number of activities:
occasional coaching sessions for players of all ages and abilities. These are great for meeting new players and we are lucky to have excellent coaches who help with these events.
graded tournaments (or Grand Prix events), particularly aimed at players who are just starting to play in competitions and want to play opponents of a similar ability
the annual 'County Closed' competition. This attracts a wide entry. Whilst it decides the County Champion in each age group, there is plenty of scope for less experienced players to get good matches.
County teams compete in the national Inter-Counties Championships and we often do pretty well
we run leagues in different age groups so that teams from the various clubs can play against each other
the annual general meeting and presentation evening sees trophies given out to teams and players for their achievements.
Round the County, we have adults and juniors who've played at a really high level so there's no shortage of contacts who'll be happy to help with any questions you might have as you get more involved in the sport. We also have close links with the regional team of England Squash and Racketball, who are happy to lend support.
Please take a look at our website for more information on what's happening and a list of contacts.
